WSFL Champions of the World!

The Sheboygan County Rebels defeated the M&M Timberjacks in the WSFL Championship game 9-7.  It was the third time these two teams met (6th time in 2 seasons) so these two teams know each other like an offensive lineman knows cake.  The Rebels won in week one 20-7.  In the week eight matchup the Rebels won 10-3.  All people involved knew that this game was to be a sloberknocker.

The Rebel offense used motion to spread out the Timberjacks and get favorable matchups against the adjusted defense and defenders in order to move the ball up and down the field.  Scoring was much more difficult.  The Rebels were in control nearly the entire game until the Tjacks scored the only touchdown of the match to go up 7-6 with nearly four minutes remaining in the contest.  The Rebels would not be denied this year.  With brass balls, the offense drove down the field and gave Lee Rios the chance to win the game and championship.  Perfect protection, perfect kick and it was 9-7.  The Rebel defense did their thing and kept the Tjack receivers in bounds and time expired to give the Rebels their first WSFL Championship since 2006.

Personally, when I think about all of the emotions that I feel after the victory there is a song that pops into my head.  On the surface one probably thinks of a man wanting his significant other to change their physical relationship into something more but if you really get beyond that, I truly believe that REO Speedwagon was speaking to the Rebels through time.  Life gives us all obstacles that we have to get past and defeat in order to achieve the things that we want.  The Rebels did it this year as a family; keep on rollin'!

Week 11 update - Let's talk about playoffs

PLAYOFFS?!  If there was any question about which team is better I think we can all put it to rest.  After whispers of Mariner players saying that they should have beat the Rebels in week 11 (a 32-21 victory by the Rebels) the Rebels came out and hit the Mariners in the mouth and the Mariners just took it.  The Rebels won 30-10.  This moves the Rebels' record to 22-1 over the course of the past two seasons.

The Rebel defense was in its standard form, dominant.  Keith Woodson and David Benton each took an interception to the house and Courtney Gatlin took a punt all the way back as well.  There were big hits all over the field by DB, John Wagner and more.  Even Nick Bainter made a play!

With the Timberjacks lighting up the Titans we will get a rematch of last year's championship game.  Keep checking back for the Championship weekend posts.

Playoffs - Week 11

This week's preview was done by a guest blogger.

Hello, my name is Jim Mora and I used to coach in the National Football League for the Saints and the Colts.  When my good friend asked me to write the Rebel blog post for the WSFL playoffs, my first reaction was: Playoffs?!  Don't talk about playoffs?!  You kiddin' me?  Playoffs?!

I was then told that the WSFL playoffs start this week so it made a lot more sense to me.  I am glad for the opportunity to talk football about some of the best WSFL teams and thus some of the best semi-professional football teams in the midwest.

The Titans (7-3) will visit the Timberjacks (8-2) Saturday afternoon at Goose Poop Field.  Rumor has it that at halftime there will be a "goose poop snowman" making competition for the fans.  These two teams played a close match when they met 2 weeks ago.  The Tjacks came out on top and I am predicting that they will again this week 28-10 but who really cares?

The game of the week involves the Rebels (10-0) and Mariners (5-5).  In week 3 the Rebels crushed the Mariners 34-3.  In week 11 the Mariners fell once again to the Rebels 32-21.  If it wasn't for 3 turnovers in Rebel territory the Mariners would not have even sniffed the endzone.  The Rebel offensive line will be facing the #2 and #4 sack leaders in Dylan "Funny last name, serious man" Waupoose and Ricardo "I'm gonna go out and pick" Flores (flores = flowers in spanish FYI).  The Mariners also love to bring a lot of A gap pressure (just like the Rebels have been seeing all year).  I would call this one a close game except the Rebel defense is groin grabbingly great.  If the Rebel offense (or defense) can put up more than 2 TDs, this one is over.  I am going to pick the Rebels to win 24-0.

What does this all mean?  I'll tell ya.  Rebels vs Timberjacks in the championship game on November 3rd.  Both teams need to take care of business first.

Come out and support the Rebels for the first round of PLAYOFFS!  Kickoff is at 6:00pm.  Be there or Bill O'Reilly will find you!

Week 10 Update

The Rebels defeated the Titans 13-7.  The Rebels proved once again that their defense is amazing.  The offense weathered the storm of blitzing that the Titans unleashed against them.  The Rebels are now 10-0!

This is the second straight season that the Rebels have gone undefeated in the regular season.  As we all know, the Rebels were unable to finish in the championship game and were defeated 0-7.  The Rebels need to take care of business against the Mariners this weekend.  Look for the week 11 update in the next few days.

Here we go Rebels!

Week 10 Preview - Rebels vs Titans

This week's blog post was done by a guest blogger.

Hello everyone, my name is Bill O'Reilly.  You might know me from the smash hit political show "The O'Reilly Factor" on the Fox News channel.  #1 in my time slot baby, in your face!  Woo!  So what if I've been drinking?  All REAL Americans watch it.  Speaking of REAL Americans, the WSFL has my semi-pro football game of the week.  The Sheboygan County Rebels will be playing the Kettle Moraine Communist Titans this Saturday.  You know what I hate most about communists?  They are disloyal and hate America, just like the liberal pinheads that I routinely destroy in debates on my show.  I cut their mics and shout at them, go America and go Bill O'Reilly.

Back to the game; the Rebels are currently undefeated and just came off of a big victory against the Manitowoc Communist Mariners 32-21.  The Rebels racked up over 300 yards rushing and kept the Mariners to 125 total yards of offense.  I haven't seen domination like that since that 30 pack of Milwaukee's Best challenged me to drink it.  All REAL Americans that watch the O'Reilly Factor saw the experts pick the Rebels as the top team in the WSFL and I agreed with them so that means that it is true.

The Rebels defeated the Communist Titans 14-0 just a few short weeks ago and now those pinko commies are back to try to take the undefeated season away from the Rebels.  They shall feel the wrath of my righteous outrage!  Those Commies from the Kettle Moraine over there tried stealing the Rebel playbook but I was able to stop them and I personally waterboarded them for information.  The attempt failed so I switched to Vodkaboarding and they gave up the entire town of Jackson, WI and their daughters' hands in marriage.  Crisis averted.

If you can't tell, I am hoping that the REAL American Rebels defeat the Commie Titans.  Since this is a "no spin zone" all I am gonna say is that the Communist Titans are the spawns of Satan and would slit your throat in your sleep if given the chance.  The Rebels are pretty much the love child of the US Constitution and Jim Brown.  They are unstoppable.

We'll do it live!  Come out and support the Rebels Saturday night in Howards Grove.  Kickoff is at 6:00pm.

Week 9 update

The Rebels beat the Mariners 32-21 in a hard fought game.  The Mariners' scores came on short fields while the Rebels racked up over 300 yards rushing.  Consider the rock pounded.

I am still sore.

Week 10 preview will come along soon.
