Rebels finish the season 11-1

The Rebels fell to the M&M Timberjacks in the WSFL Championship game 0-7 on November 12th.  I am going to pretend that I have class and congratulate the Tjacks on a great battle, game and season.  The Rebels go into the offseason (obviously) dissapointed.  Keep the players in your thoughts who will be recovering from injuries that were recieved during the season.

The offseason work starts now.

Championship Saturday Preview

Inertia is a fundamental force of this universe.  Briefly stated, inertia is resistance of an object to change its motion.  This can be described as momentum.  What if two opposing objects collided?  Which would win out?  Two teams will battle for the WSFL Championship on the gridiron of Ashwaubenon High School on Saturday to settle these very questions.

The first of these teams is the M&M Timberjacks.  They will be making their 4th straight appearence in the WSFL Championship game.  They are also the reigning Wisconsin State Football League Champions.  From 2008 to the present, the Tjacks have a record of 35-5.  This season, the Tjacks are 10-1 with their only loss coming from the Rebels in week 5 (34-15).

The Sheboygan County Rebels are looking to unseat the Timberjacks and claim the WSFL throne for themselves.  The Rebels are making their first apperance in the championship game since 2006.  From 2008 to the present, the Rebels have a record of 35-6.  This season, as many of you know, the Rebels are 11-0.  They have outscored their opponents 470-80.  This dominance has come from a combination of offensive explosions, crazy good special teams and a ridiculously talented and frightening Dark Side.

Come support your Rebels one more time and see them make WSFL history by becoming WSFL CHAMPIONS OF THE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORLD!

On to the next one!

The Rebels defeated the Manitowoc Mariners 36-30 Saturday night.  This earns the Rebels a trip to the WSFL Championship of the World game against the M&M Timberjacks!  Keep checking for updates as to when and where the Title game will be held on November 12th.

Playoffs - Round 2

Just like a submarine, the Mariners emerged victorious against a tough Kettle Moraine Titans team.  It was a defensive battle and the 13-6 score reflected that.  The 10-0 Sheboygan County Rebels are looking to depth charge (while avoiding the poop deck) the Mariners in Howards Grove this Saturday in the WSFL's 2nd round of playoffs.  The first time these two teams clashed the Rebels hulked their way to a 45-7 win.  With more at stake however, don't think for a second that the game will be a blowout again.

Speaking of "hulk", starting right guard Christopher Cox has been a perfect microcosm for the entire Rebel team this year.  Its obvious that a guy with the last name of "Cox" is just about the toughest person around.  Think of all of the childish name-calling that he had to endure growing up!  The Rebels are tough, just like Cox.  The Rebels have heart, just like Cox.  They are hungry, just like Cox and they are ready to pound just like... Chris (see what I did there?)

Come out and support your undefeated Rebels against the Manitowoc Mariners this Saturday, November 5th (the best day of the year) at 6:00pm.

TEN!

The Rebels finished the WSFL's regular season with an impressive 45-7 victory over the Manitowoc Mariners.  It was probably the most complete game that the Rebels have played all year.  The running game was hitting on all sixes, there were huge plays in the passing game and the defense... well; when its game time, its pain time!  A special shout out to Rodney Ellison.  The league leader in reception yards found himself on Ellison Island and couldn't escape; 3 receptions for less than 50 yards.

The Rebels finished their first undefeated regular season in team history!  (Jeff DeBlaey is about a million years old so you can figure out how long it has been)  Hard work, commitment and friendship have come together in a cocktail of greatness for this Rebel team (I'll bet that cocktail tastes better than the Official Rebel Shot - Sloe Gin and Vodka).  They aren't done though!  Ten is fantastic but 12 is the goal.

The Rebels will take on the winner of the Titans and Mariners game (to be played on Oct. 29th) on November 5th, the best day of the year!

Week 12 - Rebels vs Mariners

Sheboygan County invades Mariner territory this week.  Oh Mariners, come out to play!  If the Rebels have been 1 word this season, it is 'dominant'.  The Rebels have outscored their opponents 389 to 43 so far this season.  Every team in the WSFL brings their A game against the Rebels.  They wouldn't have it any other way.  The Rebels have 1 goal; a WSFL Championship of the World!  The Mariners stand in their way.

Support the Rebels this week.  5th quarter at Johnny Chimpo's.  I believe its 'buy a shot for a linemen' week.

Rebels battle to 9-0

The Rebels and Titans battled in Jackson, WI.  The Rebels survived the massive blitzing attack of the Titans and came out on top 26-7.  Marcus Ninneman was in beast mode.  T Hau had a 93ish yard TD catch and broke about 8 ankles.  The Rebel Dark Side was in its regular form; scary and dominant.  They gave up 170 yards over the course of the game.  The offensive line even got an entire touchdown drive of wedge plays to satiate their needs.  Good win Rebels!  Congrats on being 9-0!

The Rebels will invade Two Rivers next weekend to take on the Mariners.

Week 11 - Rebels at Titans

The Rebels are on the road this week to spread their dominance against a team that takes its name from the largest moon of Saturn.  Did you know that it is the only known natural satellite to have a dense atmosphere!?  To answer your next question; that atmosphere is mainly nitrogen!  Unreal!  Nitrogen has an atomic mass of 14.00674 u.  It is also colorless and tasteless; kind of like Nick Bainter.  Oh... the Titans don't take their name from a moon?  My bad, they just take it from a descendant of Uranus.  Boom.

The game is at 3pm this week!  Come out and oogle the offensive line for your undeafeated Rebels.

Rebels remain dominant

The Rebels beat the Rattlers 48-7 in Howards Grove last saturday thanks to dominance in all phases of the game.  For pictures from the game, click here.  Courtesy of K Shots Photography.

It was Ronnie James Dio that sang "Don't talk to strangers", after this week the Outlaws (2-5) will be singing "Don't play the Rebels".  Historically, new teams normally do not do well against the Sheboygan County Rebels and if things go according to plan, that trend will continue.  The Rebels have 1 goal; WSFL domination.  The Outlaws are next.

Come support your Rebels.  Beast mode will be engaged.

Week 9 - Rebels vs Rattlers

The 2-4 Rattlers are coming to visit the Undefeated Rebels this Saturday at 6:00pm.  The Rebel Dark Side will be going for their 5th shutout of the year.  With the league's deadliest linebacking corps it is surely possible.  John "Softie since he got married" Wagner, Josh "Mayor" Bardon, David "Try to block me" Benton, Nick "Fettuccine" Bainter, Dusty "I'm from Kewaunee too" Vlies and Santino "I'm a big giant beast" Laster will all see time during the game and the defense loses nothing with whoever is in.  All men are intelligent, all are hard hitting and all would probably start on any other team in the league.  Its no wonder why the Rebels' defense is the cream of the crop for the WSFL.

Come out and support the Rebels this Saturday and buy them more drinks afterwards.

Rebels Shake and Bake to (Now) 6-0

The Rebels came ready to play and dominated a starved for players Renegade team 51-0.  Highlights for the game included the return of Courtney Gatlin, a Keith Woodson pick 6, Paul Widder searching for someone to hit on the way to the endzone (and finding nobody), Marcus Ninneman not falling down after a catch and the first career touchdown by Eric "Snookie" Cullen on a reverse.  Tyler Hau might have done something too.

The Rebels have outscored their opponents 274 to 29 this season.  274 to 29.  274 to 29.

Week 8 - Renegades at Rebels

Oh momma they're in fear for their lives from the long arm of Santino Laster.  Laster has put an end to their running and they're so far from their home.  Oh momma I can hear them a cryin' they're so scared and all alone.  Hartman is comin' down from the gallows and they don't have very long.  The jig is up, the news is out the Rebels are coming.  The Renegades who had it made will be retrieved for a bounty!  (Tommy Shaw eat your heart out!)

That bounty is the Rebels' quest to become WSFL Champions of the World!  The Dark Side is jacked up and ready to go.  If it wasn't for his wife, Sarah, John Wagner would have run through a brick wall by now.  Thank the good Lord that she is bringing out his softer side.  The Rebel offense is also ready to go.  Marcus Ninneman is ready to break out again and show the league why he is its best.

The Rebels (6-0) will be back in action after their bye week against the Milwaukee County Renegades (1-3).  Come out and support them and then buy them drinks after the game (Olinemen first)!

Week 6 - Rebels vs Bulldogs

Pro wrestling had the Bushwackers, the Rebels have da Yoopers.  It was said that the Bushwackers were destructive, they could exert a lot of force and pressure on their opponents, they are unorthodox and they do the unexpected.  This statement perfectly illustrates the fellows from da UP (ask anyone who goes out on the town with these guys).  Jarred Querio, Jared Martin and Ron Mullins are da yoopers on the team.  All three are rookies, all three are dangerous and all three are crazy.  The Rebels have gotten a ton out of these three so far this year and we expect to get a lot more.

The Rebels come into week 6 having already defeated last season's top two teams.  The team is too focused to have a letdown so the Tri-City Bulldogs better be ready for a battle.

Come out and support your undefeated Rebels!

Darkness is spreading! Rebels 4-0

A dark storm looms over the Wisconsin State Football League.  John Wagner, Josh Bardon, David Benton, Keith Woodson, Jared Martin and Rick Hartman are some of the driving force behind this storm.  There is plenty more where they came from.  The Rebel defense has been conistently dominant during the 2011 campaign to conquer the WSFL.  It is because of their destructive hits and intimidation that the Rebels are now the most feared team in the leauge.  The Rebels are 4-0 and have defeated both of the teams that played in the championship game last season.  The Rebel defense has given up just 27 points this season and itself scored 12 points (two interceptions returned for TDs).

Two Rebel WRs had the spotlight on them for week 5 and boy did both deliver.  Tyler "Who said he's soft?" Hau had two catches for 70 yards and 2 TDs and Calvin "He's still wide open" Thomas had three catches for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns.  QB Corey Roberson was 6 for 7 for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The WSFL has no games over Labor Day weekend.  The Rebels will be getting back to business on September 10th at home against the Tri-City Bulldogs.

Week 5 - Rebels vs M&Ms

Melt in your mouth, not in your hand?  Ha!  Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red and the hated trash-talker Brown.  These are the players that the Rebels must overpower in order to... oh, its the M&M Timberjacks!  That makes a lot more sense.

The Rebels and Timberjacks split the victories in last year's matchups.  The Tjacks were victorious in Howards Grove in week 3 (27-14) and the Rebels took the field in week 7 (30-20) in Peshtigo.  Whenever the Rebels and Timberjacks step onto the same field it automatically becomes the year's most physical game.  There will be big hits, apocalyptic blocks and Brad Dobson.

Just because Brad Dobson is the fair haired pride of Elkart Lake doesn't mean that he isn't a big giant beast.  He is known for his speed and ankle breaking moves in the open field but he is also a phenomenal passer.  He is averaging nearly 17.5 yards per completion on the year so far and has thrown 4 TDs and only 1 interception.

Dobson's boyhood friend and biggest weapon is the human joystick, Tyler Hau.  T Hau is usually good for at least 1 touchdown a game (3 if you include the plays that are called back for penalties) and he is also the league's best return man.  Hau gave the Timberjacks nightmares (and I hear several bed wettings) last year in the Wildcat and the Rebels hope to continue the trend into this season.

Another weapon for Dobson is the impressive Calvin Thomas.  He wears #1 and its for a reason.  If a cheetah was fast, they'd call it a Calvin.  He is looking for another a big game this week and if I know anything about him, he will deliver.

Come out and support your Rebels for the most physical game of the season.  With a victory, the Rebels will take complete control of the league.

Rebels Rush to 3-0

The Rebels had a cause against the Bulldogs Saturday night.  The Rebels were ready for a switchblade knife fight type of game but instead won handily 42-0.  If the teams were playing chicken by a seaside cliff it was the Bulldogs who blinked.  Enough with the 'Rebel Without a Cause' references!

The Rebel offensive line was looking for a breakout game and they got just that.  The Rebel backfield combined for 243 yards and 3 TDs on the ground.  Paul Widder lead the Rebels in rushing with 123 yards and a score on 8 carries.  8 carries.  8 carries.  Skyler Ebbers added 51 yards on 6 carries.  When asked how he thought the game went, Chris Cox hulked out and smashed a truck in excitement.

The Rebel defense recorded their second goose egg of the season.  The dark side continues to terrify opposing quarterbacks.  They are relentless, they are unstoppable and I am glad I don't play against them.  The Rebels have outscored their opponents 112-14 so far this season.

The Rebels have their Bye Week this weekend and will return to action on the 27th to face the hated M&M Timberjacks.

Week 3 - Rumble in the Dells - Rebels vs Bulldogs

The 2-0 Rebels will take on the newest addition to the WSFL in the Tri-City Bulldogs (0-1) this Saturday at 6:00pm.  It will be like an old man taking on a newborn baby... no.  It'll be like a grown man fighting against a dog... that's dumb too.  It'll be like a grizzled veteran in a standoff with a wide eyed young gun at high noon in the wild west... I give up.

Speaking of grizzled veterans, the Rebel offensive line, lead by Jeff "Depends" DeBlaey, is looking for a break out game this week.  On most teams, the offensive line is a group of the most disgusting looking group of guys on the team.  It is the exact opposite for the Rebels.  This group of men is quite pleasing to the eye; almost to the level of Tyler Hau or Jamil Moore.

First, there is Tyler Courtright, the perfect right tackle.  He is one of the most aggressive linemen in the league.  Ask anyone who gets blocked until the whistle every single play of the game.  Next, at right guard is the real life version of the Hulk, Chris Cox.  When this Offensive Captain gets his hands on you, you might as well just go to the ground on your own to make things easier for you.  The other Captain on offense is the iron pectoral god himself, Jeff DeBlaey.  As the center he is the natural leader of the offensive line.  He also serves as a peace maker between the left and right sides of the oline when they have their flexing competitions.  At left guard there is Drew "I don't care if you outweigh me by a billion pounds I will still work you over" TenPas.  He never met a guy that he didn't think he could roll.  He is also probably the best conditioned guy on the oline with all of his half marathon running.  At left tackle is Mike Kruis.  Nobody cares about or likes him because he went to Cedar Grove- Belgium High School.  Newbie Kyle Heim is capable of playing anywhere on the offensive line when he isn't busy ripping the sleeves off of his shirts.  Adam Gilson (another rookie) fills in at both tackle positions when either Tyler or Mike need a break.

The Rebel rushing attack has averaged 4.5 yards per carry so far this season and the oline is looking to increase it.  They will get after the Bulldogs this Saturday at 6:00pm.  Come witness!

Dark Side boosts Rebels to 2-0

The Sheboygan County Rebels avenged last season's playoff loss to the Washington County Untouchables with a victory Sunday afternoon.  They (well, I) say that you gotta look good to play good and with the new uniforms, the Rebels did both.

The Rebels jumped out to a 18-0 lead by the end of the first quarter thanks to lights out defensive play by the dark side of the ball.  Brad Dobson linked up with the best tight end in the league, Marcus Ninneman, with a beautiful touch pass over the top of the defense for the first score.  Jamil Moore had the biggest play with a pick six though.  As he took the rock to the house, everyone could sense a little Bon Jovi (Jamil's favorite band) in the air; or maybe it was coming from the vocal chords of Mr. Moore.

To their credit, the Untouchables managed to claw back into the game thanks to several big plays.  At halftime, the score read 18-14 in the Rebels' favor.  David Benton gave an emotional halftime speech to the team and the Rebels refocused and rededicated themselves to finishing the game strong.

In the second half, it was all Rebels.  Jarred Querio (Mr. Q) played lights out registering 3 1/2 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.  The defense didn't allow a single point.  The Rebel's Dark Side had 6 takeaways over the course of the game.  A touchdown and field goal were added by the Rebel offense thanks to good field position.  In the end, the scoreboard read 28-14.  The Rebels faced adversity and overcame it to defeat one of last season's top teams.

Week 2 - Rebels vs "The U"

Unfathomable anger gripped the Rebels on October 31st of last year.  Extreme controversy surrounded the playoff loss to the Washington County Untouchables.  In the end, the scoreboard read 35-36.  The Untouchables won.  "The U" seemed to play the part of the Joker to the Rebels' Batman last season, defeating them in both match-ups.  Just like Batman, a dark side exists inside the Rebels.  The Rebels' dark side is the most terrifying group of men in the league.  Manbeast, Mr. Q, Fettuccine, The Human Missile, Halo and (the most terrifying of them all) Rick Hartman all dwell here; the Rebel defense.

After achieving a week 1 shutout against the Titans (only giving up 115 yards of offense), the defense will be back to attack the Untouchables.  Al Capone proved in the 1920s that nobody is untouchable.  Defensive Captains Josh Bardon and John Wagner aim to reaffirm this truth along with the rest of the Rebel dark side.

The solidified and jacked up Rebel offense will be ready to show the "Touchables" that they can still throw up a lot of points against their defense.  As always, the Rebel special teams will be ready to put on a show.  Come out and show your support for the Sheboygan County Rebels in their Bad Blood match-up against the Washington County Untouchables on Sunday, August 7th at 1:00pm.

Rebels 1-0 After Week 1

Lackadasical, friendly and dulcet (look it up); none of these words describe the battle between the Sheboygan County Rebles and the Kettle Moraine Titans in their Week 1 match-up of the WSFL regular season.  There were big hits, big plays and special teams fireworks as promised.  At the end, the Rebels hulked their way to a 42-0 victory lead by the heroics of Courtney Gatlin, Tyler Hau, Skyler Ebbers and the league's most terrifying defense captained by Josh Bardon and John Wagner.

Many players saw playing time and got to show everyone what they could do.  The strong performance by the Rebels is tempered by some injuries to great players.  They will be back in action in a few weeks.  There are eager players that are ready to step up and keep the wins coming.  There is only one thing on the mind of this team; championship.

Week 1 - Rebels vs Titans

The Rebels open their regular season this Saturday (July 30th) at home versus the Kettle Moraine Titans after going 2-0 during the preseason against the Dane County Hawks and the Lake Geneva Generals of the MSFL.  It costs just $3 for admission.  A treasure trove of big hits, blocks, and returns are promised.  Rebel apparel will also be available for purchase.  Who knows, you might even find a future wife or husband in the stands or on the field (I won’t be giving out my number until AFTER the game).  Again, all for the low low price of THREE DOLLARS!

But that’s not all!  After the game the Howards Grove Athletic Association will be hosting the Rebels' "5th Quarter" right at the field.  Stick around and meet the Rebels (if you are sure that is what you really want) while enjoying a few drinks.

Come watch the Rebels battle the Titans for WSFL supremacy!

Rebels Pre-Season Capsule

After falling short of the WSFL Championship appearance for the 3rd year in a row the Rebels are hungry to return to the top of the heap in the league.  Last year’s exit was particularly unsavory as the Rebels fell to the Washington County Untouchables on the last play of the playoff semi-final game when Manny Mills of Washington County inched over the goal line for the 2 point conversion with time expired to give the Untouchables the 1 point victory.  The game was loaded with crushing hits and all varieties of football fireworks—the type game the Rebels are accustomed to winning.  That stinging loss has driven the Rebels all off-season to practice more, workout harder, and recruit more deliberately to return to Rebels form from past seasons.  Teams in the league can thank Manny Mills and the Untouchables for motivating the Rebels to improve team chemistry and toughness, and resume their position in the league as one of the roughest, hardest hitting in the league, and a threat to take the championship.

A preview of the WSFL shows promise that the “cellar dweller” teams have improved greatly, and the days of 73-0 blowouts are over.  The league boasts strong-new teams, the Titans have improved off-season effort, and the Cyclones and Rattlers have merged to create what should be a formidable team.  The Rebels have added 17 new players to keep pace.  There is a distinct Lakeland College flavor with additions of Mr. Q (Jarred Querio), Jared “manbeast” Martin, Joey O’Brien,Chris Daun, and the man no QB will throw on Keith Woodson.  The Rebels also welcome back long time veterans Santino Laster, Corey Roberson, and Calvin Thomas.  This trio has not only been impressive in the preseason with their play, but with their experience and leadership have helped to re-instill discipline to the team.  The Rebels didn’t just look to Lakeland College, Roman Trimberger could lead team in INT’s playing opposite Woodson on the corner, Adam Gilson and Kyle Heim look to be solid contributors on OL and DL.  Dusty Vlies (winner of the Defensive Rookie of the year award for Fon duLac Crusaders last year) was wrestled away and will join his brother John Wagner who serves as player, coach, motivational leader, and all around team kook.

The Defense has had to say goodbye to longtime Rebels standout defender Robert McNitt, and the underrated Dustin Soerens.  Both these players were game changers yet the defense looks to be improved overall.  That is bad news for the rest of the league since the Rebels Defense is one of the top 3 stingiest every year already.  Nick Bainter returns from injury, most of the new recruits are on the Defensive side of the ball, and the team has switched from a “read and flow” to more of an attacking philosophy.  Sacks will come fast and often as Rance Jones, David Benton, Sean Henry, Josh Bardon, John Wagner, Jeremy Jacobs, George Burt and Jamil Moore all show ability to rush consistently from anywhere on the field.  Should an opponent reach our secondary, they will be reminded that the “human missile”, Tyler Holschbach still patrols our backfield, and has been joined by the athletically gifted Jamil Moore.  (Count your teeth when you get up).

Offense has matched the defense’s improvement, but has done so largely from within.  Jeff DeBlaey continues to improve with age, and with Chris Cox held a rigorous workout regimen attended by the suddenly hulking (by red head standards) Alex Nesemann and Nick Bainter.  The strong and cerebral Mike Kruis returns to bookend the Tackle position with Tyler Courtright who just plays downright mean.  Drew TenPas also returns his fiery athleticism to round out the Offensive line.  Brad Dobson has worked all off-season to bond with exceptional WR’s Cortney Gatlin, Tyler Hau, and Rodney Ellison and All-League TE Marcus Ninnemann looks like he should retain that title.  Paul Widder, the team’s bruising back, will have support from a bevy of backs (Laster, Calvin Thomas, Ricky Canon, Skyler Ebbers, Kevan Rivera) who should keep him fresher through the season.  Alex Nesemann will also find breaks from all the Knuckle dragging at Fullback with backups Santino Laster and DL/LB Jarred Querio.  The Rebels will score in bunches this year with the ability to grind out a game or score in a single play.

With the Special Teams returning both Tyler Hau and Cortney Gatlin, the offense may never take the field as these returners have the ability to take-it-to-the-house at any time.  Teams will continue to play Wylie Coyote to Gatlin’s Road Runner, or Sylvester the Cat to Hau’s Speedy Gonzalez.  Historically Special Teams has been a training grounds for new or developmental players, this year the Rebels have the luxury of playing legitimate players on this team.

It will be an exciting year.  There is good balance between the veteran and rookie talent, and the Rebels are hungry, motivated, unified to reclaim the WSFL title.

Season Preview

Season Outlook: No wishbone offense?!! No #21 (Justin Zehel)?!! And, what is this…1…2…3…4
coaches?!! What's going on here?! I assure you these are in fact the Sheboygan County Rebels. New look Sheboygan County Rebels if you will. After an up and down season that once again crashed and burned in a playoff loss to the M&M Timberjacks, the Rebels return re-tooled, revitalized, and ready to re-take the WSFL championship.  Head coach and offensive coordinator, Andy Stopczynski, has left the team after great success since the inception of the team. We wish Coach Stopczynski well as he looks forward to extra free time with his family. Jason Jacobs, a co-founder of the team and long-time player, was asked to return to the Rebels as a head coach and restore the team pride and leadership the team enjoyed in past years. Jason filled out his coaching team with Brian Willoughby (defensive coordinator), Scott Valenstein (offensive
coordinator), and Nate Meyer (assistant head coach) With the coaching changes came many changes, mostly to the offense. Even with the task of installing a new offense, Coach Jacobs still found time for up/downs. Can you believe that….up/downs! Who does up/downs?! Mean S.O.B's that's who. Objective reached - team attitude is ornery and authority established.
