WSFL Champions of the World!

The Sheboygan County Rebels defeated the M&M Timberjacks in the WSFL Championship game 9-7.  It was the third time these two teams met (6th time in 2 seasons) so these two teams know each other like an offensive lineman knows cake.  The Rebels won in week one 20-7.  In the week eight matchup the Rebels won 10-3.  All people involved knew that this game was to be a sloberknocker.

The Rebel offense used motion to spread out the Timberjacks and get favorable matchups against the adjusted defense and defenders in order to move the ball up and down the field.  Scoring was much more difficult.  The Rebels were in control nearly the entire game until the Tjacks scored the only touchdown of the match to go up 7-6 with nearly four minutes remaining in the contest.  The Rebels would not be denied this year.  With brass balls, the offense drove down the field and gave Lee Rios the chance to win the game and championship.  Perfect protection, perfect kick and it was 9-7.  The Rebel defense did their thing and kept the Tjack receivers in bounds and time expired to give the Rebels their first WSFL Championship since 2006.

Personally, when I think about all of the emotions that I feel after the victory there is a song that pops into my head.  On the surface one probably thinks of a man wanting his significant other to change their physical relationship into something more but if you really get beyond that, I truly believe that REO Speedwagon was speaking to the Rebels through time.  Life gives us all obstacles that we have to get past and defeat in order to achieve the things that we want.  The Rebels did it this year as a family; keep on rollin'!

Week 11 update - Let's talk about playoffs

PLAYOFFS?!  If there was any question about which team is better I think we can all put it to rest.  After whispers of Mariner players saying that they should have beat the Rebels in week 11 (a 32-21 victory by the Rebels) the Rebels came out and hit the Mariners in the mouth and the Mariners just took it.  The Rebels won 30-10.  This moves the Rebels' record to 22-1 over the course of the past two seasons.

The Rebel defense was in its standard form, dominant.  Keith Woodson and David Benton each took an interception to the house and Courtney Gatlin took a punt all the way back as well.  There were big hits all over the field by DB, John Wagner and more.  Even Nick Bainter made a play!

With the Timberjacks lighting up the Titans we will get a rematch of last year's championship game.  Keep checking back for the Championship weekend posts.

Playoffs - Week 11

This week's preview was done by a guest blogger.

Hello, my name is Jim Mora and I used to coach in the National Football League for the Saints and the Colts.  When my good friend asked me to write the Rebel blog post for the WSFL playoffs, my first reaction was: Playoffs?!  Don't talk about playoffs?!  You kiddin' me?  Playoffs?!

I was then told that the WSFL playoffs start this week so it made a lot more sense to me.  I am glad for the opportunity to talk football about some of the best WSFL teams and thus some of the best semi-professional football teams in the midwest.

The Titans (7-3) will visit the Timberjacks (8-2) Saturday afternoon at Goose Poop Field.  Rumor has it that at halftime there will be a "goose poop snowman" making competition for the fans.  These two teams played a close match when they met 2 weeks ago.  The Tjacks came out on top and I am predicting that they will again this week 28-10 but who really cares?

The game of the week involves the Rebels (10-0) and Mariners (5-5).  In week 3 the Rebels crushed the Mariners 34-3.  In week 11 the Mariners fell once again to the Rebels 32-21.  If it wasn't for 3 turnovers in Rebel territory the Mariners would not have even sniffed the endzone.  The Rebel offensive line will be facing the #2 and #4 sack leaders in Dylan "Funny last name, serious man" Waupoose and Ricardo "I'm gonna go out and pick" Flores (flores = flowers in spanish FYI).  The Mariners also love to bring a lot of A gap pressure (just like the Rebels have been seeing all year).  I would call this one a close game except the Rebel defense is groin grabbingly great.  If the Rebel offense (or defense) can put up more than 2 TDs, this one is over.  I am going to pick the Rebels to win 24-0.

What does this all mean?  I'll tell ya.  Rebels vs Timberjacks in the championship game on November 3rd.  Both teams need to take care of business first.

Come out and support the Rebels for the first round of PLAYOFFS!  Kickoff is at 6:00pm.  Be there or Bill O'Reilly will find you!

Week 10 Update

The Rebels defeated the Titans 13-7.  The Rebels proved once again that their defense is amazing.  The offense weathered the storm of blitzing that the Titans unleashed against them.  The Rebels are now 10-0!

This is the second straight season that the Rebels have gone undefeated in the regular season.  As we all know, the Rebels were unable to finish in the championship game and were defeated 0-7.  The Rebels need to take care of business against the Mariners this weekend.  Look for the week 11 update in the next few days.

Here we go Rebels!

Week 10 Preview - Rebels vs Titans

This week's blog post was done by a guest blogger.

Hello everyone, my name is Bill O'Reilly.  You might know me from the smash hit political show "The O'Reilly Factor" on the Fox News channel.  #1 in my time slot baby, in your face!  Woo!  So what if I've been drinking?  All REAL Americans watch it.  Speaking of REAL Americans, the WSFL has my semi-pro football game of the week.  The Sheboygan County Rebels will be playing the Kettle Moraine Communist Titans this Saturday.  You know what I hate most about communists?  They are disloyal and hate America, just like the liberal pinheads that I routinely destroy in debates on my show.  I cut their mics and shout at them, go America and go Bill O'Reilly.

Back to the game; the Rebels are currently undefeated and just came off of a big victory against the Manitowoc Communist Mariners 32-21.  The Rebels racked up over 300 yards rushing and kept the Mariners to 125 total yards of offense.  I haven't seen domination like that since that 30 pack of Milwaukee's Best challenged me to drink it.  All REAL Americans that watch the O'Reilly Factor saw the experts pick the Rebels as the top team in the WSFL and I agreed with them so that means that it is true.

The Rebels defeated the Communist Titans 14-0 just a few short weeks ago and now those pinko commies are back to try to take the undefeated season away from the Rebels.  They shall feel the wrath of my righteous outrage!  Those Commies from the Kettle Moraine over there tried stealing the Rebel playbook but I was able to stop them and I personally waterboarded them for information.  The attempt failed so I switched to Vodkaboarding and they gave up the entire town of Jackson, WI and their daughters' hands in marriage.  Crisis averted.

If you can't tell, I am hoping that the REAL American Rebels defeat the Commie Titans.  Since this is a "no spin zone" all I am gonna say is that the Communist Titans are the spawns of Satan and would slit your throat in your sleep if given the chance.  The Rebels are pretty much the love child of the US Constitution and Jim Brown.  They are unstoppable.

We'll do it live!  Come out and support the Rebels Saturday night in Howards Grove.  Kickoff is at 6:00pm.

Week 9 update

The Rebels beat the Mariners 32-21 in a hard fought game.  The Mariners' scores came on short fields while the Rebels racked up over 300 yards rushing.  Consider the rock pounded.

I am still sore.

Week 10 preview will come along soon.

Week 9 - Rebels vs. Mariners

The first time the Rebels faced off against the Manitowoc Mariners the Rebels came out on top with a 34-3 victory.  Quarterback Brad Dobson threw for 226 yards and 3 scores and J Will averaged 8.7 yards per carry.  The Rebel Dark Side held the Mariners to 3 points and 216 total yards of offense.  It was not close.

That was back in week 3.  Since then the Mariners have rattled off 5 consecutive wins outscoring opponents 205 to 20.  Not too shabby.

The Rebels, conversely, have won 5 games as well, outscoring opponents 97-28.  Which team is better?  We shall find out this Saturday in Howards Grove.  Kickoff is at 6:00pm.

Week 8 Update - Kraken Released

The Sheboygan County Rebels dismantled the Kettle Moraine Titans 14-0 to remain the only unbeaten team in the WSFL.  The Rebel defense is unstoppable.

The game was clinched in the 4th quarter with a 70ish yard fumble return for a touchdown by the amazing Rodney Elison.

Congrats to the Rebels for being the only unbeaten  team in the WSFL.  Yes, it is 2:45 in the morning, I might have been out tonight.

Week 8 - Clash with the Titans

There are two unbeaten teams in the WSFL.  Everyone knows that one of those teams is the Sheboygan County Rebels.  The other is a team that used to be the whipping boy of the league.  In three short years the Kettle Moraine Titans went from laughing stock of the Wisconsin State Football League to one of the top tier teams.  How did they do it?  Hard work, practicing, steroids?  Steriods.  It has to be steroids.

When it comes to this week's game I think Jeff Deblaey said it best: Big game on Saturday... There is room for only one undefeated team in the league, from this point on we play every down to our full potential and settle for nothing less. With the playoffs right around the corner, I can't get the bitter taste of last year's championship game out of my mouth. It's burning something inside of me that is causing night sweats and fits of rage. It's time to play angry, turn it up a notch and leave no doubt." Hope fully the Rebels are ready to RELEASE THE KRAKEN on the Titans.

Come out and support the Rebels against the Titans! Kickoff is at 1:00 pm. 1pm @ 2230 Living Word Ln Jackson, WI 53037

Week 7 update - Rebels STILL better than Tjacks

Despite missing 2 starters on the offensive line and losing 5 turnovers the Rebels were able to defeat the M&Ms brand Timberjacks (again) 10-3.  Speedster WR Courtney Gatlin had the only touchdown on a deep pass play from QB Corey Roberson.

Like every week, the Rebel dark side smashed the competition, making the seemingly powerful Tjack offense look like a JV squad.  Jamil Moore and Josh Bardon stood out as they played the contain men in the Rebels' 4-4 defense.  Keeping contain and closing down holes is a difficult job and both excelled at it in the game.  I am not sure if this is related or not but Josh and Jamil also like to close down every bar they walk into.  Drinking is fun.

The Rebels face the other undefeated team in the Kettle Moraine Titans next week.

Week 7 - Rebels vs Tjacks - Again

The whole WSFL knows about the Rebel defense.  They pee in fear a little each time they think about it.  This week, however, the offensive nerds will rejoice!  Let's take a look at some numbers, shall we?  http://www.gowsfl.com/statsRush.php

Both of the Rebel running backs average more per carry than anyone in the league who gets at least 5 carries per game.  Skyler Ebbers (Cedar Grove Belgium pride!) has 301 yards on 48 carries for an average of 6.3 yards per carry.  Ebbers plays like a monster truck; he'll run your ass over!  Jeremy Williams (more commonly known as J Will) has 307 yards on 46 carries for an average of 6.7 yards per rush.  J Will is the freak back.  He will kill you to the outside, run you over on the inside and make defensive backfields go "palms up" in dismay.  Don't forget about Ricky Cannon, though!  On 22 carries he has 123 yards (5.6 yards per carry).

Palms up
How is this possible?  How is a hydra like backfield able to exist in a league as powerful as the WSFL?  Let's take a look at the group of hogs that makes it all happen.  A group of men that, when together, tip the scales at or around 1450 or 1500 lbs depending on the lineup and the size of the most recent meal.

The Rebels have a nearly senile old man leading the oline at center.  His name is Jeff DeBlaey but if you ask him it is sometimes Bubbles.  To prove his age, Jeff is an original Rebel.  Don't let his age fool you, though.  He has the pecs of a 25 year old Hulk Hogan.  Paired with his firey play, nobody wants to mess with those pectorals or Bubbles.

At right guard is Chris Cox.  It is rumored that he is half man and half hulk.  With a last name like his you learn to be pretty tough.  Chris can routinely be seen 10 yards down field with a defensive tackle in his clutches.  Ask some of the Untouchables what it is like to get trapped by him... they might not remember though.

At right tackle is the manbeast, Jared Martin.  As a 4 year starter at Lakeland College he knows how to play.  It is a regular sight to see defensive ends or outside linebackers begging for forgiveness because of perceived transgressions.  Do. Not. Mess. With. This. Man.

At the left guard spot the Rebels have been switching back and forth between two players.  One is Kyle Heim and he holds the world record for most wedding invites in a single year.  I think the number is at or around 2,000.  His technique for blocking is only rivaled by his technique for plumbing.  The other guard (who can also play tackle) is Tyler Courtright.  Many people "play to the whistle" but Tyler plays to "two seconds AFTER the whistle".  Shortly after a play is over it is common to hear "get in the weightroom if you don't like it", "stop crying so much" and "pardon me, good sir, but it appears that you are terrible" coming from Mr. Courtright.

At left tackle is some liberal ninny who drinks soy milk because it is "healthy and doesn't taste that bad".  What a joke. He is a Cedar Grove-Belguim Alum so that has to count for something, right?

The Rebels will journey to the great north woods to take on the hated M&Ms brand Timberjacks.  This matchup is always a great game.

Come out and support the Rebels this Saturday!

Week 6 update - Rebels go 6-0

With the Rebels crushing the Untouchables 43-13 there are various dirrections that this post could go.  The most obvious is the Jerry Sandusky jokes based around the "untouchable" team name but I have too much class to go there.  Another direction would be to make fun of the IFL (Ironman Football League) because two games ago, and without their IFL players, the Untouchables only lost 16-6 to the Rebels.

Alas, the real reason that the Rebels dismantled the Untouchables is because they played to their potential for the first time this season (and there is a lot to be corrected and improved upon still).  The Rebel defense was in its mid-season form (5 interceptions including two pick 6s and a missed field goal taken 109.9 yards to the house), the return game helped win the field position battle and the Rebel offense was clicking.  This is the real Rebels.  Watch out WSFL (and IFL players who want to try to cross the Rebels).

The Rebels will have their bye week this upcoming weekend then will face the diabolical M&M Timberjacks.

Week 6 - Rebels vs Untouchables II

Way back in week four the Rebels defeated the Untouchables 16-6.  The Untouchables brought a team of nearly 20 to take on the Rebels and they fought valiantly against the onslaught of the Rebel defense.  Things have changed however.  The team that the Rebels will face this SUNDAY will be slightly different from the Untouchables of August 18th.  How, you ask?  The Untouchables will have their players from other, lesser, semi-pro leagues this time.

Will the game be like Rocky II where Balboa (the U) steps up to defeat Apollo Creed (the Rebels)?Perhpas it will it be like Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and the dark side (Rebles, duh) will crush the Galactic Republic (Untouchables) and re-create it into the Galactic Empire with John Wagner as Emperor?  This blogger says the latter.

Come out and support your Sheboygan County Rebels this SUNDAY.

Week 5 - Rebels at Outlaws

I have been moving to a new residence so this week's post has been written by a guest blogger.  I was beginning to think that he'd wait to release this post until he released his tax returns to the American people (never) but he surprised me and submitted his post this morning.

Hello!  It is me, America's favorite GOP Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney!  I have the pleasure of guest blogging for a friend of mine who was just too busy to do a little blog post that almost nobody reads!  Haha, or as the kids say, LOL.  I am just kidding, that was a little rude but everything is fodder for comedy.  You know folks, American footballing is my favorite sport behind Dressage; you know, horse dancing.  My wife and I own several dancing horses; nothing gets me fired up more!  Speaking of fired up, I am fired up for this week's matchup between the Sheboygan County Rebels and the Outagamie County Outlaws.  As a law abiding citizen, both of the names of these teams, naturally, make me feel uncomfortable.  Why can't they be the Sheboygan County Eagle Scouts and the Outagamie County Respectful Youths?  Those would make a lot more sense to me.

Anyway, polling suggests that the Rebels are favored to win so I too will think they will win!  I truly believe that the swing state of Wisconsin is won by whoever gets the "WSFL vote".  You won't be seeing that President Barack Hussein Obama making blog posts about the WSFL, vote Mitt Romney in November!

Why do you think the Rebels will win, you ask?  Well the answer is simple.  The Outlaws lost to the Untouchables 42-0 and the Rebels beat the Untouchables 16-6 last week.  Therefore, one may conclude that the Rebels will win easily 52-0.  Choosing the winner of football matches is easy!

Take the drive out to Little Chute, WI (at the High School) to support your Sheboygan County Rebels!  Kickoff is at 3:00 pm.  Be there or be a democrat!  That's more comedy for ya, buster.

Week 4 - Rebels vs Untouchables

The Men of 2207.

There exists a place in this world where it is not good enough to just "be a man".  At this place reside titans.  Two thirds yooper and one third jersey shore are they.  With their powers combined, they make the Rebels unstoppable.

Incredibly credible (that's how credible) sources tell me that Jared Martin (Yooper) was born in the forests of da upper peninsula to a wolf mother and bear father.  He was quickly abandoned and raised by bigfoot; thus his fierce attitude and imposing stature.  He earned the nickname "Manbeast" for his play on the football field.  He plays right tackle on the (roughly) 1,450 lb offensive line and also rotates in at nose tackle for the defense.

Jarred Querio (Yooper) has been known to enjoy licking the depressed tears of the enemy offensive linemen that he destroys from his defensive end position.  He always says "Sad tears taste the best." and there are plenty in the eyes of opposing olinemen with Mr. Q on the field.  Old wives tell stories of an insane monster that roamed the cornfields of the western part of the UP.   Some say this monster is looking for lonely children to kill. Other, more normal people know its just Jarred stealing some corn to make his own whiskey.

Jamil Moore (Jersey) was conceived behind a tanning booth near a Bon Jovi concert on the Jersey Shore so it is a surprise to nobody that Jamil is the most feared person on the team.  Once Jamil suits up and pulls that helmet onto his head he might very well be the most feared player in the league.  Jamil can play any position on the field but he mainly plays strong safety and defensive end/ outside linebacker.  Don't run or throw to his side.

The Men of 2207 are taking some of the Rebels under their wing and it is good to see.  J Will, Gerry Hammons and Jeremy Kegler can frequently be seen in the area.  Neighbors have told me of the theme song of the Men of 2207 that can be heard blasting from the house.  It suits these guys perfectly.

The Men of 2207 will be on the front lines of the battle between the Rebels and "The U" (when people give themselves their own nickname it is usually pretty lame) this Saturday.  The Men of 2207 have hands in all three phases of the game and will continue to be another extrememly talented and young core for the Rebels for years to come.

Come out and support the Rebels (3-0) on Saturday vs the Untouchables (1-1).  The game will be played in Howards Grove at 6:00 pm.

Rebels sink the Mariners

The Sheboygan County Rebels defeated the Manitowoc Mariners 34-3 this afternoon/night in Two Rivers.  This game had everything; amazing runs, big hits, interceptions, bombs for touchdowns and more.  Though the team struggled at times (remember the 3rd quarter?) the Rebels were able to rise above it all to finish strong with a solid 4th quarter.

The Rebels are now 3-0.  A big shout out goes to the fans of the Rebels who travel so well to support the team!  Thank you.

Week 3 Preview - Rebels at Mariners

In the epic conclusion to the classic 90s children's movie Hook the character of Rufio battled one on one with the depraved Captain Hook.  My 1991 self still cries out "Noooo!" along with Peter Pan as Hook is able to kill the leader of the Lost Boys.  I didn't cry, I swear!  Peter Pan rose up to battle Captain James Hook and eventually set in motion the chain of events that would lead to Hook's demise.

In a way, the Mariners played the part of Hook in the 2011 WSFL playoffs for the Rebels.  Unlike the regular season game, that game was a battle.  Towards the end of the game, in a play that could have possibly lead to the loss in the 2011 WSFL Champioship, the leg of Tyler Hau was broken on a reverse.  It was a freak accident but that's football.  The injury of the Rebels' most prolific scorer reared its ugly head in the 0-7 loss to the Timberjacks.

What I am saying is that the 2011 Rebels were Rufio.  The 2012 Rebels have now risen become Peter Pan will face off once again with James Hook.

The Rebels will play in Two Rivers against the Manitowoc Mariners at Walsh field at 4:00 pm.  Be there to support the Rebels and join the team at Johnny Chimpos afterwards for barrels of rum (I am going with the pirate theme still).

Intersection of:
22nd Street and Polk Street

Come to think of it.  The Timberjacks were really Captain Hook.  The Mariners were their side kicks.  I guess, in this allegory, that the Mariners are really, uh, hmm, Smee.

Week 2 Results

The Rebels won easily over the Bulldogs 68-6.  It was a good tune up for the Rebels in that all players got to take part in the game.  Fun was had by all.

Josh Bardon had another pick 6.  Everyone is proud.

Rebels defeat Timberjacks to open the season

Rebels vs Tjacks games are always physical, both teams are built upon that foundation.  After losing the 2011 WSFL championship game to the Timberjacks the Rebels were hungry to play again.  This was the first of probably three times that both teams will see each other this season.  The Rebels catipulted their way to a 20-7 victory by a long touchdown pass from Brad Dobson to Courtney Gatlin and a pick 6 by Elkhart Lake's favorite son, Josh Bardon.

Look out WSFL, the Rebels are coming for you.

I saw the Dark Knight Rises on Friday and the soundtrack was mentioned in the huddle during the game; thus its appropriateness.  This one's for you Calvin.

WSFL Opener - Week 1 - Rebels vs. Timberjacks

This week's blog post will be done by a guest blogger.

Hello, my name is Matt Foley and I am a motivational speaker.  I am here to tell you about the week one matchup.  Let's get started by me telling you what my life is all about.  I am 35 years old, I am divorced and I live in a van down by the river.  Believe it or not, the only broadcasts I can pick up are avant-garde jazz pop music stations and WSFL games.  Naturally, I am a big Sheboygan County Rebels fan.

It is my understanding that the Rebels went undefeated last season until the championship game.  Some called it a fluke, some called it an uncharacteristically bad game.  None of that matters because it does not change the result.  It could be worse; you could be living in a van down by the river!

It is week one of the Wisconsin State Football League's 2012 regular season and the football gods saw it fit to have a 2011 WSFL Championship game rematch.  The Rebels want it no other way.  There remains some unfinished business from last year.

Let's talk about the M&M Timberjacks first.  I had no idea what the M&M stood for until I turned on the news and saw the story about the 255 mature marijuana plants that were seized in Menominee county recently.  As far as I can tell, they spent all their time, as the kids say, "rollin' doobies" and they named themselves after their favorite snack!  If it were me, I would have named the team the Hotpocket Deep Fried Oreo Cookies!  Let's look past the name for a moment.  The Timberjacks are back to back WSFL champions, they deserve our respect.  They are a golden, flakey crust wrapping up a symphony of grade B cheese and ham scraps... wait, I think I started talking about hot pockets again.  Let's move to the Rebels.

After the 0-7 loss in the championship game last year, I know a lot of the Rebels are probably thinking, "Matt, how can we get back on the right track?!"  Well, all I have to say is "finish".  The Rebels dominated their way through the WSFL last year.  Key injuries, penalties and brain farts were terribly timed to take away some of the things that the Rebels did best on offense and they had issues putting points on the board.  The Rebels added a lot of good talent to the, by far, best defense in the league as well as offense.  Let's take a closer look at the defense first.

The Rebel defense aka Dark Side is an 11 headed monster with several other heads in line to rotate in.  Some of the big names of this monster are John "You're going down" Wagner, Jamil "Bon Jovi" Moore, David "Sack Master" Benton, Josh "I say that I go to Jeff's party every year but I didn't go the past two years" Bardon, Chris "I got 3 picks against the Bombers" Daun, Jared "I eat manbeasts for breakfast" Martin, Jarred "click here" Querio, Rick "I can still play" Hartman and more.  Fans will be treated to multiple giant hits, interceptions, and sacks each and every game.  These men are great to watch.

The Rebel offense has improved as well.  Tyler "3 TDs a game" Hau is recovered from the broken leg that ended his season early in 2012.  Tyler "I play to the whistle" Courtright, Chris "Hulk smash" Cox, Jeff "Look at my pecs but no touching" DeBlaey and Mike "Bag of donuts" Kruis all return as regular starters on the offensive line this year.  Skyler "Don't I look pretty?" Ebbers, Ricky "Cannon ball" Canon and Alex "Roc-a-fella" Nesemann will be back in the backfield to run people over.  Brad "Watch me throw 8 TDs this game" Dobson and Corey "Who has my pads?" Roberson will be quarterbacking with a 1-2 punch.  Courtney "I'm open" Gatlin, Gerry "Watch me dance" Hammons, and Calvin "I'm old but I'll still burn you" Thomas will be deadly in the passing game.  Oh yeah, the best TE in the league in Marcus "I am the best tight end in the league" Ninneman is back too.

The Rebels are looking to dominate the WSFL again this year.  This reporter, Matt Foley (remember?), says that they'll take the WSFL title.  The Tjacks will be doing plenty of doobie rollin' when they're eating government cheese and living in a van down by the river!

Come out and support the Rebels!  Kickoff is at 6pm on Saturday, July 28th.

That's a Wrap! The Rebel Preseason is over

The Rebels finished their 2012 preseason against the Oshkosh Bombers with an 86-7 victory.  Besides the Bombers, the Rebels and fans had to battle the heat and a swarm of ants throughout the game.  The game was also a good tune up for both the offense and defense.

The Rebel Dark Side registered double digit sacks and seemingly as many interceptions (Chris Daun had 3 alone).  Fans were treated to multiple big hits (Wagner's hit comes to mind) and stops.  The defense will, once again, be an unstoppable force in the WSFL; making opponent bed wettings and tearful flashbacks common place.

The Rebel offense registered a multitude of big plays, circus catches, big runs and impressive blocks.  Quarterback Brad "Watch me throw this touchdown" Dobson was on for the game by throwing all but two of the Rebels' touchdowns.  Hopefully there will be many more games like this for the Rebel offense.

The Rebels have 1 more practice before the start of the 2012 WSFL regular season.  Who is their first opponent, you ask?  The hated M&M Timberjacks.

Rebels Preseason Update

The Rebels fell to the Roscoe Rush 23-21 in Kenosha on the 30th.  The Rebels are now 1-1 in preseason play.  Despite the loss the Rebels got a lot of work done in order to improve.  Keith Woodson had a pick 6 on the first pass play and several Rebels recorded big hits, sacks and another INT (Wagner).  The offense didn't surrender a single sack and some new guys went into Beast Mode to put up points.

All in all, both new and veteran players stepped up to make plays, play at foreign positions and improve the team all while battling the heat and playing on all special teams.  The members of the team who couldn't make it to the game will be welcomed back with open arms and hopefully I won't have to run around on kick return or punt coverage anymore!

The third preseason game will be against the Oshkosh Bombers.  This is the last real action tune up for the Rebels before the WSFL regular season starts.  The game will be played at Oshkosh North High School on Saturday, July 14th at 4:00 pm.  Come out and support the Rebels!

On a side note, the WSFL has a new website.  Give them some love as well (but not too much).

Rebels Defeat the Threat

The Rebels had a showdown with the Racine threat in Elkhart Lake on June 2nd.  The Rebel defense was in mid-season form and recorded numerous sacks, big hits and turnovers.  The Dark Side used the "Bainter Strategy" (sunlight reflects off of him in order to blind the opposition) until the sun set behind the trees.  Nobody was able to see a thing on the field or from the sidelines but the Rebel defense had their "Bainter proof" visors on so they were just fine.  After the sun went down the Rebel D was able to hold on for the shut out.

The Rebel offense ground it out with multiple new guys and were able to pound the rock with some success.  Thanks to some good field position and the cannon ball qualities of (new father) Ricky Cannon, the Rebels were able to put up 13 points against a Threatening (get it?!) defense that is ready to start their regular season.

The Rebels wish the best of luck to the Threat.

The next preseason game for the Rebels is on June 30th.
